Attach
the jib hanks of your sail to your topping lift line.
Tighten down on the mainsheet to provide good tension
to the topping lift, so it serves as a kind of backstay.
Attach the bottom of your sail to the back of your boom.
Use your main halyard to raise the top of the sail. Bring
a line forward to the mast and tie it off.
High
Split Backstay Method:
If your split backstay goes sufficiently
high, use one side of the split as if it were a single
backstay. This solution is not as elegant looking, as
the sail is "leaning," making it look a little
like the canted tail on a stealth fighter, but it will
still work fine.
